The Laboratories

Department of Pharmaceutics

The Institute has three undergraduate Pharmaceutics Laboratories namely Pharmaceutics Laboratory (Industrial Pharmacy Lab), Pharmaceutics Laboratory II and Pharmaceutics Laboratory III (Physical Pharmacy Lab) and Pharmaceutics Lab for M.Pharm. The Labs are well equipped with equipments, glasswares and chemicals to carry out the necessary experimentation work as prescribed in the syllabus of B.Pharm.

Machine Room

The machine room has a well built aura of machines generally encountered in Pharmaceutical Industry like 16 station Rotary Punching Machine, Pan Coater, Hand Operated Single Punch Machine, Dissolution Rate Test Apparatus (I.P Standard), Disintegration Rate Test Apparatus (U.S.P. standard), Silverson emulsifier, ROPP Cap Bottle Sealing Machine, Ampoule filling and sealing machine, Bottle filling machine, Mechanical and Gyratory Sieve Shaker, Filter Press, Reynolds Apparatus, Venturimeter and Orifice meter, Vacuum filter Unit, Friability Test Apparatus, Capsule filling machine, Mechanical Stirrer, Double and Cuboidal Cone Blender, Micropulverizer, Root crusher, Ointment filling machine, Ointment Crimping machine. This room provides a window for young and aspiring pharmacist to be well versed with the current Pharmaceutical Scenario.

Pharmaceutical Microbiology Laboratory

This laboratory is built with an insight into the Biotechnology Industry with instruments like B.O.D. Incubator, Aseptic Room with Laminar Air Flow Cabinet and U.V. Cabinet, Deep Freezer, Digital Oven, Incubators, Double Door Ovens, Bacterial Colony Counter, Autoclaves. Once out of the laboratory, a student will be well versed with the microbiological part of the course.

Instrument Room

The instrument room consist of Double Beam UV Spectrophotometer (Systronics 2101), Karl - Fischer Instrument, Abbe's Refractometer, Nephalometer Turbidimeter, Polarimeter, pH meter, Conductivity meter, Potentiometer , I.R. Moisture Balance and Electronic Single Pan Balance. These instruments are effectively used by undergraduate students for analysis of drugs and their formulations.

Separate balance room is provided with each laboratory. These Laboratories help in acclimatizing the student with the chemistry aspect of the Pharmacy profession which helps them in their career as an analytical chemist, Research and Development and in Post graduate studies. Advanced Instrument Laboratory The Advanced instrument Lab consist of state of the art Instruments like UV Double beam Spectrophotometer, Shimadzu 1700, High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Cecil, FTIR-8400 (Shimadzu) S-Shimadzu, Single Pan Balance, Shimadzu, Photomicrograph, Brookefield's Viscometer, I.R Moisture Balance, Flame photometer, 6 station Dissolution Rate Test Apparatus. This Lab caters to the needs of post-graduate research projects to be carried out under the auspices of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow.

Department of Pharmacognosy

It is equipped with instruments like Soxhlet Apparatus and Clavengers Apparatus for extraction and isolation of crude drugs, Microtome for cutting fine section of the drugs, Bio-Visual aids like - Permanent Slides, Compound and Dissecting Microscope, Medicinal plant charts, Visualizing wooden cabinets of crude drugs etc. The Museum The Institute possesses a large museum consisting of more than 100 crude drugs, herbarium sheets, botanical specimens & charts of the drugs & plants, coloured slides of medicinal plants, patent medicines & containers of common usage in medicines. The Medicinal Garden The college comprises of a beautifully landscaped medicinal garden consisting of more than 125 plants of medicinal importance like Vinca rosea, Ocimum sanctum, Rauwolfia serpentina, Foeniculum vulgare, Coriandrum sativum, Saraca indica, Datura innoxia,Mentha spicata, Gossypium herbaceum, Olea europoea, Ricinus communis, Elettaria cardamomum, Curcuma longa, Azadirachta indica, Tribulus terrestris, Asparagus racemosus etc.

Department of Pharmacology

The Pharmacology lab consists of equipments to identify the activity of various drug samples. These include Digital Actophotometer, Eddy's Hot plate, Histamine Chamber, Plethysmograph, Cook's Pole Climbing Apparatus, Convulsiometer, Pyrogen Telethermometer and Single and Double organ Bath with Kymograph to study the effect of drugs on animals. Moreover the college has started experiment conduction on simulated softwares. A student becomes well versed with handling and experimentation on animals both in laboratory (manually) and on computers (simulated softwares) once out of the laboratory. Anatomy, Physiology and Pathophysiology Laboratory This laboratory consists of bones, human skeleton model, various charts and models of brain, ear, human digestive system etc, which once visually encountered will help a student to grasp the basics of the pharmaceutical profession.
Computer Lab The Institute has two spacious computer labs with dual core computers connected to 40 nodes. The lab is provided with 8 Mbps dedicated lease line internet facility round the clock.
